Breaking Point < 3

Photobucket
Have you ever been to the point of breaking down? Feel the world hates you right now, or even worst, you are thinking there is no one out there looking out for you? Yea, we have all gone through this type of feeling at least once and some have felt it more often than others. The question is, what is there to do when the world seems to be against us?
Most of the people asked would say, “I would want to run away from my problems,” while others try to hide their problems and pretend as if nothing is wrong. I had many emails and comments asking for advice about getting over depressions or times when some have felt desperate to run away from their problems, or simply have turned around and said, “I’ve had enough of this.”
So I am giving a couple of tips that always have helped me get back to my perky little Fun sunshine self after feeling this way throughout life.

1. Do not Sleep it off.

  • When going through hard times, it is usually easier to get to a bed, lie down and curl yourself in a fetus position and sleep. Some say this makes them feel better others say it makes them lazy. Point is you do not want to turn into a couch potato and so you need to try your best to be active. Do not stay sleeping all day. Get up. Go outside. Clean. Shower. Just do not stay in your bed or couch watching TV, because this will make you feel even more down and lonely.
2. Make a motivating playlist.

  • You get your iPod, put on some music you usually listen to and the first song in the shuffled mixed is Nobody’s home by Avril Lavrigne. You think to yourself, wow this song is so sad, and so the tears start rolling down your check bones. You begin to be nostalgic and press next again but your iPod must be on SAD shuffle mode because it plays the song Daddy’s Little girl by Frankie J. What is wrong with this picture? Well, very simple you Sherlock Holmes, the problem is you need to have positive music in a playlist, so that you can enjoy some upbeat tunes to cheer u up. Add some Steve Aoiki to the mix, some Britney spears, and yes it may sound cheesy but add some Justin Bieber to this mix. Why not include some salsa and jazz, just try to put upbeat or catchy tunes not depressing or melancholic tunes. You know how sad you feel, let’s not have it repeated to you through your ear buds. For me, I try to work on my own covers. Take out the old guitar and keys, compose a bit, maybe even work on my youtube covers and let my imagination go wild. Music always helps relax the mind.
3. Stop and stare…literally.

  • You might think it is a stupid idea, but just let time stop for a bit and take a break. Lie down, rest your head, and close your eyes if you have to. Just space out for a couple of minutes and think of happy thoughts. It may sound cliché but a happy moment in your life can really help your bitterness disappear at least for a few moments.
4. Your friends are your new drug. (It’s okay to overdose on them)

  • The Queen bee always has her loyal servants, well in this case you are the drama queen and it’s ok to let it out. Your friends might hate you because you might get a bit annoying but hey what are friends for? They are the ones who are there to lend an ear and allow you to let all your thoughts, ideas and problems out. So abuse of that privilege until you are done letting it out. Never underestimate the power of listening; you might be surprised by how relieved you will feel after.
5. Keep a smile.

  • Everyone goes through turbulence in their life that overshadows their day. It is okay to cry, it is even okay to want to sock your pillow. The point is everyone goes through this so remember you are not alone. A smile will always help you cheer up. When you smile, it does not mean you might actually feel like smiling but at least others will smile back. With smiling you demonstrate to others how staying positive in negative situations makes you stronger. Think of it like this: when you think you are having a bad day, or week, or even month, someone always has it worst so it is fine to feel that way just think about those who might have it harder, and move on. A smile might not bring any solutions, but it will bring a happier soul.
